Singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead at a village in Mansa on Sunday, while two others were left injured. A Canada-based gangster, identified as Goldy Brar, has claimed responsibility for the murder of 28-year-old Moosewala. Brar is close to the Lawrence Bishnoi-led gang in Punjab.
Moose Wala was soon taken to the civil hospital in Mansa where he was declared dead.
"Three people were brought to the hospital, out of which Sidhu Moose Wala was dead. After giving primary treatment, the two injured have been referred to a higher institute for further treatment," said Dr Ranjeet Rai, Civil Surgeon of Mansa Hospital.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moosewala, was among 424 people whose security was withdrawn by the Punjab Police on Saturday.
Moosewala had joined the Congress last year ahead of the Punjab assembly polls.
Earlier, Moose Wala fought on the Congress ticket from Mansa seat and was defeated by AAP's Dr Vijay Singla.
